We're off again, hurrah! This time, it's three weeks in Baja California, traveling with friends D & G. Their car is our trusty chariot for the journey. Notice the custom cartop carrier, where we have stowed some minimal camping gear, just in case.
Today we left Ridgecrest at 8 a.m., aiming to cross the border at Tecate. None of us had ever come into Mexico by this route. As we got closer to the border, the country grew more rural and rugged. The crossing at Tecate was an anticlimax. We drove through the "Nothing to Declare" lane without being stopped, and waved to the Federales as we breezed by.
We crossed several ridges, some up to 2000', on our way to Guadalupe. The grass is green-green-green, and evidence of recent rain is everywhere. Our hotel, just west of the town, is the quite a place - two pools, many many tables under shade, an outdoor game room, lovely plantings. There is even a hot tub, but, no, it's not hot. Drat!
We went to the hotel restaurant to have dinner, an early one, having skipped lunch. Then back to our room, where we have managed to successfully use the remote to start the heater, to see if we can find the superbowl on TV. Bob struggles with the remote. Finally, he locates the Dish Network menu, and then the game. The announcers speak Spanish.
As I post this, it is a sunny Monday morning. We are sitting in our shirtsleeves on the patio of an espresso cafe in Ensenada, where we came to get our tourist visas. A beautiful day for wine tasting in the Guadalupe Valley.
Looks like you are having a great time. What a beautiful country.
Hugs, Lois

Hey!
Hope you are having fun! Wish we could be there too. So what route did you take from Tecate to Ensenada? Seems like you went the long way around!
Cheers
